A planned strike by KLM ground staff at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, has been banned by a court ruling on July 4. The strike—organised by unions CNV and FNV—was intended to run from 14:00 to 22:00 to demand better conditions and concrete commitments from KLM.
This is the second attempt to strike after a previous action on June 28 was also blocked due to the NATO summit and high summer travel volumes. CNV had argued that current conditions no longer justified a ban and expressed confidence that the strike would proceed safely.
KLM, which had proposed a wage increase, is reportedly disappointed and may consider further legal action to prevent future strikes. The dispute comes as summer holidays begin in parts of Europe, increasing pressure on airport operations and travellers.
Travellers with KLM bookings on July 9 are advised to check their flight status and contact their travel agent. Compensation rules apply in the event of cancellations or significant delays.
