An incident during (or just after) refuelling of an Air France Airbus A321 (registered F-GTAK) prompted the crew to evacuate the aircraft. The flight, AF1390, was waiting at Paris CDG airport for a flight towards Istanbul, Turkey.
While emergency services rushed to the aircraft, passengers were instructed to leave the aircraft via the boarding bridge. According to passenger witness Tom Roek, fuel came out both wings. Hence the reason for the swift evacuation.
Passenger Tom Roek was able to film the incident (see below). “Just had an incident on board my Airbus A321 (F-GTAK) bound for Istanbul. Just evacuated from the plane in a hurry, due to a heavy fuel leak from both wings.
It can never be said often enough: during an evacuation, always leave your hand luggage behind and leave the plane as soon as possible,” he wrote on social media.
Air France scheduled another Airbus A321 (F-GTAU) for the flight to Istanbul, which is expected to depart at 16:30 (local time), roughly five hours later than originally planned.
