On 23 June, an Air France Boeing 777 (F-GZNJ) departed Atlanta Airport, United States for flight AF681 to Paris CDG, France. The crew, however, encountered a left-hand engine failure and stopped their climb at 3,000 feet.
The pilots declared a mayday and asked for an immediate return to Atlanta’s runway 27R. First, a runway inspection was performed to check for possible debris. After the landing, a visual inspection of the engine was performed by emergency rescue services.
The airline was forced to cancel the flight to Paris, while the aircraft is still on the ground at Atlanta Airport.
