– By the end of 2017, three new Boeing 787 will enter the Air France fleet and by 2018, the fleet will comprise six Dreamliners.
After a first aircraft delivered last December, on Thursday 20 April Air France welcomed its second Boeing 787. The company took delivery of the aircraft at the Boeing factory in Charleston, South Carolina and then flew the aircraft on an exceptional ferry flight to its Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub.
After a few days at the maintenance division, this second Boeing 787 will make its first commercial flight on 1 May to Montreal. Air France will take delivery of three more aircraft by the end of 2017. In the summer of 2018, the fleet will comprise six B787.
Flying all over the world in a Dreamliner
Air France currently operates its B787 to Cairo and London and will start serving Lyon at the end of May. In winter 2017, several cities in Africa and North America will welcome this new aircraft. At the beginning of 2018, an Air France Boeing 787 will land in South America, where Sao Paulo will discover this new aircraft.
Many operational assets
This new generation aircraft has a number of operational advantages, including:
– 20% less fuel consumption than previous generation aircraft, an asset to offset the effects of a rise in the price of fuel;
– a significant reduction in CO2 emissions (around 20%) and noise emissions.
