The European Commission and EASA have endorsed Air France-KLM as the first airline group to partner on the EU Flight Emissions Label (FEL), a new initiative aimed at increasing transparency in aviation emissions.
Through a newly signed Memorandum of Cooperation, Air France and KLM will help test the digital FEL system and provide emissions data, including fuel consumption, load factors, and use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). This voluntary partnership allows Air France-KLM early access to label methodologies and reinforces its commitment to decarbonisation and industry leadership in sustainable aviation.
The FEL, introduced under Regulation (EU) 2024/3170, allows participating airlines to display verified emissions data to passengers and aims to empower consumer choice while harmonising emissions reporting across the EU. Other airlines are encouraged to join the scheme.
