Air Europa and Garuda Indonesia, the national airline of the Republic of Indonesia, have signed a codeshare agreement whereby both SkyTeam members reinforce and extend their international offering in Asia and Europe, respectively.
Thanks to the agreement, from August, Air Europa adds to its list of destinations Jakarta, the capital and most populous city in Indonesia, via Amsterdam in codeshare on the flight operated by Garuda Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Garuda will put its code on Air Europa flights Madrid-Amsterdam-Madrid, thus putting passengers on its entire network of destinations in Spain, Europe and America flown from its hub at Adolfo Suarez airport in Madrid- Barajas.
This codeshared flight to Jakarta from Amsterdam will be available every day of the week except Tuesdays and in the opposite direction also daily, except Mondays. Meanwhile, Garuda will fly six days a week between Madrid and Amsterdam on flights operated by Air Europa.
The signing of this agreement provides significant benefits to passengers of both companies because not only they will have greater options when planning their flights, but they also can enjoy the benefits that entail flying on codeshare, such as the acquisition of a single bill, access to VIP lounges at some airports and connections with minimal waiting time.
In addition, the partnership also includes an agreement between Air Europa SUMA and Garuda Miles, the respective frequent flyer programs of the two airlines, enabling passengers in both programmes to earn and redeem miles on all flights of the two airlines.
The agreement has been assessed very positively by the heads of both companies who have highlighted the importance to expand the range of destinations that can offer its customers, always under the premise of quality, efficiency, effectiveness and modernity of both airlines.
Air Europa and Garuda Indonesia will expand soon their codeshare: before the end of the year, the Globalia airline will deploy its code in Garuda-operated flights between Jakarta and Bali, thus ensuring the connection between the paradisiacal island and its hub in Madrid.
