Air Canada has revealed a firm order for eight Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, a deal previously listed as undisclosed in November 2025. The order marks a significant step in the carrier’s long-haul fleet modernisation strategy and reinforces its commitment to Airbus widebody aircraft.
The A350-1000, Airbus’ largest A350 variant, offers a range of up to 9,000 nautical miles and is expected to play a central role in Air Canada’s global expansion plans. The aircraft will enable non-stop services from Canada to high-growth markets across the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Australia.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer and President of Cargo at Air Canada, described the aircraft as a “natural next step” in the airline’s fleet evolution. He said the A350-1000 would bring “state-of-the-art capabilities and improved efficiencies,” unlocking new long-haul opportunities while strengthening connectivity between Canada and key international markets.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business at Airbus, said the selection underlines the A350-1000’s position as one of the most advanced widebody aircraft on the market, supporting Air Canada’s ambitions in range, performance and passenger comfort.
