Air Canada has inaugurated a new seasonal non-stop service between Halifax and Brussels, expanding transatlantic connectivity between Atlantic Canada and Europe.
The route, which launched on 18 June 2026 at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, will operate three times weekly until early September. Flights depart Halifax on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with return services from Brussels on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The service is operated using the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and is positioned to optimise onward connections through Brussels to destinations across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Air Canada noted that a significant share of passengers on the inaugural flight were connecting beyond Belgium to other international destinations.
Air Canada Vice-President Valérie Durand described the route as a strategic addition to the airline’s European network, highlighting its role in strengthening links between Canada and Belgium while supporting trade, tourism, and business flows.
Belgian officials, including Deputy Head of Mission Filip Vandenbroeke, welcomed the new service as a symbolic and practical “bridge across the Atlantic,” emphasising its importance for tourism, investment, and cultural exchange.
The addition of Brussels complements Halifax’s existing European connectivity and reinforces the airport’s role as a key international gateway for Atlantic Canada during the summer travel season.
