Air Canada and United Airlines have announced six new routes between Canada and the United States for summer 2027, alongside plans to renew and expand their transborder joint business agreement, subject to regulatory approval.

Air Canada will introduce three seasonal services:

RouteOperating periodFrequency
Toronto–Louisville28 April–31 October 2027Increasing to daily in May
Montréal–Indianapolis1 June–30 September 2027Daily
Edmonton–Newark1 June–17 October 2027Four times weekly

The airline will also deploy the larger Airbus A220 between Edmonton and San Francisco, increasing capacity on the route. The new Newark service will connect Edmonton with the New York region and provide onward connections through United’s hub.

United will launch seasonal Newark–St John’s flights, restoring the connection after more than a decade, and introduce Denver services to Ottawa and Québec City. It will also increase Washington Dulles–Québec City frequencies and raise daily seat capacity between Denver and Winnipeg by 65%.

The expansion accompanies an application to Transport Canada for approval of an amended joint business agreement. Established in 2022, the arrangement allows the airlines to coordinate schedules and offer integrated fares and connections across their networks.

According to Air Canada, the partnership has enabled 20 new transborder routes since its launch and supports more than 1,200 connecting itineraries. The airline says it also brings approximately two million passengers connecting to or from the US onto its domestic network each year, supporting services to more than 50 Canadian communities.
