In 2018, Air Belgium suffered a loss of €18.2M compared to a loss of only €840,000 in 2017, Aviation24.be determined from the annual figures that were published on the website of the National Bank of Belgium.

Originally, the Belgian airline operated scheduled flights from its home base Brussels South Charleroi Airport towards Hong Kong, it hoped to fill its planes with Chinese tourists visiting Europe and with European businesspeople, but apparently, the route failed to attract a sufficient number of travellers.

The airline quickly changed its course by becoming a reliable ACMI partner for several airlines. The airline, however, is still in a growth phase and the company has its full support from its shareholders. Recently, Air Belgium announced flights from Brussels South Charleroi again, to the French Antilles, starting on 7 December.
