Air Belgium, the new Belgian airline, today announces it has obtained its air operator’s certificate (AOC). The first flights will take off in mid-April 2018 and the ticket sale will start in the next few days.
Mandatory for all airlines, the air operator’s certificate has been provided by the Direction générale Transport aérien (DGTA, the Belgian Civil Aviation Administration), the body in charge of the supervision and the regulation of airline transport in Belgium. The air operator’s certificate demonstrates the capacity of the airline to guarantee safe and responsible airline transport.
Air Belgium CEO Niky Terzakis commented on the important milestone: “Proud achievement for my wonderful team. Very grateful for all the hard work and determination. I must also highlight the great work and support of the Belgian Civil Aviation Administration throughout this 4-month process!”
Meanwhile, Air Belgium’s first A340 is being painted in its new livery at Sabena Aerospace hangar in Brussels Airport.
