Air Belgium intends to resume scheduled operations on 31 March 2019 with a thrice-weekly service between Brussels South Charleroi and Hong Kong. Tickets are readily available on its website.
Air Belgium suspended its flights to Hong Kong on 1 October 2018, after its Chinese tour operator partner U-tour failed to fulfil its obligations.
Subsequently, the airline announced its intention to fly to Zhengzhou (China) and signed a Letter of Intent with the government of the Henan province, but so far the flights have not been launched despite an agreement by Chinese authorities.
During the winter season, Air Belgium focussed on ACMI flights with its fleet of four A340-300s, most notably for Air France and British Airways, which sees some of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners grounded by Rolls-Royce Trent engine problems. Currently, one of them is wet-leased to British Airways for London Heathrow-Dubai services, and from 1 April 2019 for London Heathrow-Newark services.
