Air Astana A320neo

Air Astana Group has signed a firm order for 25 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft—its largest ever direct aircraft purchase—marking 20 years since the airline introduced its first A320 in 2006.

The deal comprises five A320neo and 20 A321neo aircraft and will support both full-service Air Astana and its low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan as part of a broader fleet renewal and expansion strategy. The group currently operates 59 A320 Family aircraft.

Strategic Fleet Expansion

CEO Peter Foster said the order underscores the airline’s long-term commitment to operational efficiency and service quality. He highlighted the performance of the A321LR in premium configuration, describing it as delivering one of the strongest narrowbody long-haul products globally, combining extended range with enhanced onboard comfort.

The new aircraft are expected to underpin sustainable growth and profitability across Central Asia and the Caucasus—one of the industry’s faster-growing regions.

Efficiency and Sustainability Focus

According to Airbus, the A320neo Family delivers at least 20% fuel burn and CO? reduction compared to previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. The platform is already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a target of 100% SAF capability by 2030.

The A321neo, the largest variant in the family, offers extended range and higher seating capacity, strengthening Air Astana’s ability to serve both regional and longer-haul markets with narrowbody economics.

With more than 19,000 orders globally, the A320 Family remains the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft platform.
