Air Astana has finalised an order for up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, marking the largest single aircraft purchase in the Kazakh flag carrier’s history.
The agreement, confirmed with Boeing on 17 February 2026, converts a commitment first announced in November 2025 into a firm order. The new aircraft will support fleet modernisation and long-haul network expansion.
In addition to the direct purchase, three further 787-9s will be delivered through leasing arrangements, bringing Air Astana’s total 787 fleet to up to 18 aircraft.
The expansion significantly strengthens the airline’s widebody capabilities, positioning it for sustained growth on intercontinental routes while offering enhanced passenger comfort and operational efficiency through the next-generation Dreamliner platform.
