Air Algérie will introduce the first direct flights between Manchester Airport and Algiers, with a twice-weekly service starting 14 June. The route marks the first-ever non-stop connection between Manchester and Algeria and makes Manchester the only UK airport outside London with direct access to Algiers.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays and Sundays using Boeing 737 aircraft. Air Algérie becomes the fourth African carrier at Manchester, alongside Royal Air Maroc, EgyptAir and Ethiopian Airlines.
Beyond serving as a destination, Algiers will function as a hub for onward connections across Africa, including routes to Johannesburg, Abuja, Dakar and Douala. The new service is positioned to boost tourism, business travel, and diaspora connectivity between Northern England and Africa.
Airport officials highlighted the route’s role in strengthening global links for regional communities, while Air Algérie emphasised improved access to its broader African and Asian network through its Algiers hub.
