Albania’s flag carrier Air Albania has suspended all flight operations since 7 December following the decision by its main shareholder, Turkish Airlines, to sell its 49% stake in the airline.
The abrupt halt has left passengers stranded and raised concerns amid a broader wave of airline failures linked to global economic pressures. However, despite the operational shutdown, Air Albania has not filed for bankruptcy, and the situation is currently tied to shareholder restructuring rather than a formal insolvency process.
