Aeromexico Boeing 737-800 landing mishap at Guadalajara Airport; main landing gear scraped to the axles

On 3 January, an Aeromexico Boeing 737-800 (XA-AMV) operating flight AM120 from Mexico City suffered a main gear mishap on landing runway 28 at Guadalajara, Mexico. All wheels were scraped down to the axles during braking. The airport was forced to close for about 4 hours.

In a statement, Aeromexico explained the situation: “During the landing of flight AM120 MEX-GDL, operated on a Boeing 737-800, smoke was visible on the landing gear, which was controlled by the rescue services of the airport. The 151 passengers and all crew members safely disembarked the aircraft and are fine. The correct procedures have been applied and we are doing our utmost to resume operations as soon as possible.
