An Embraer 190 aeroplane of the largest Mexican airline AeroMéxico with 97 passengers and four crew on board crashed in the Northern Federal Mexican State of Durango during a thunderstorm. This is confirmed by the airline.
The aircraft registered XA-GAL was operating flight AM2431 from Durango (DGO) to Mexico City (MEX) and apparently overran the airway during take-off to crash one mile away from Durango airport. Fire broke out only after the evacuation of the passengers was completed.
The Durango governor reported that the aircraft was about to take off when the aircraft suffered the accident. No fatalities have been reported, but a number of injured passengers have been taken care of: 12 of the 85 injured passengers are severely injured.
