Aeroflot has been named among global carriers serving best wines on board according to the results of Global Traveler airline wine competition. The Russian carrier has made it into the top three airlines in the Best Champagne International Business Class category.

In the race for the prize in the most exquisite segment of premium-class service Aeroflot saw off competition from the recognised leaders of the world airline industry.

The authoritative US magazine for luxury travelers Global Traveler has held its Wines on the Wing awards in New York since 2004. By the rules, each participating airline submitted five wine samples – two red, two white and one sparkling wine or champagne. The entries were assessed through blind tasting. The jury included 23 professional sommeliers, wine producers and wine merchants.

Aeroflot ranks among the world’s leading airlines for the quality of service and is prioritizing improvements in the area. The airline has lately upgraded its wine list in business class. As part of ongoing enhancement efforts the airline has recently started to offer beer and wine in economy class on flights of more than six hours, and a selection of wines on flights of three hours or longer on a number of routes.

The premier-level food and drinks offered on board are the carrier’s strong advantage in the global market. In addition to the accolade from the US Global Traveler, in early 2019 Aeroflot’s leadership has been confirmed by the UK Cellars in the Sky award.
