An Aeroflot Boeing 777-300ER registered RA-73142, operating flight SU273 from Bangkok to Moscow Sheremetyevo with over 400 on board, made an emergency landing in Delhi at around 15:50 on Tuesday after the crew detected a brief odour of melted plastic.
The airline confirmed that no smoke was observed, and the landing proceeded per standard safety procedures.
Following the diversion, the onward flight to Moscow was delayed due to technical inspection and crew duty time limits. The continuation of the flight to Moscow is currently mentioned as cancelled.
Discussions with Indian immigration authorities are ongoing to arrange accommodation and border clearance for passengers, while Aeroflot staff are providing meals and refreshments.
