On 18 April 2019, Belgian authorities gave its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to the newest Belgian airline, ACE Belgium Freighters, based at Liège Airport. The airline should start its operations soon.
ACE Belgium, an ACE Aviation subsidiary, will fly soon with its only Boeing 747-400F registered OO-ACE and sporting an all-white livery.
“We will operate 2 kinds of flights: scheduled flights to New York JFK and Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) for example, and a few charter flights according to one-time requests,” says to RTBF Sumathi Guinchon, HR manager of ACE Belgium, noting that the airline considers extending its destinations network later.
The airline considers getting a second aircraft during the first year of operations and has recruited some 20 administrative employees and 20 pilots. Tens more recruits could be hired during the next few months.
ACE Belgium will transport all kinds of cargo: “Pharmaceutic products, flowers, food, masterpieces, there is no limit. We know as well that Liège Airport is specialised in horse transport,” continues Sumathi Guinchon.
