SMBC Aviation Capital has placed a firm order for 100 additional Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, comprising 65 A321neos and 35 A320neos, at the Farnborough International Airshow.
The lessor said the order will provide its airline customers with a steady pipeline of next-generation narrowbody aircraft into the mid-2030s, reflecting continued confidence in long-term demand for the A320neo Family.
The agreement further strengthens the long-standing partnership between SMBC Aviation Capital and Airbus, which spans more than 25 years. Together with its parent company, Sumitomo Corporation, SMBC has now accumulated more than 900 direct Airbus aircraft commitments across all programmes.
Airbus said the order highlights the continued popularity of the A320neo Family among airlines and leasing companies. The aircraft family offers at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO? emissions than previous-generation single-aisle aircraft, while the A321neo provides additional range and passenger capacity.
The A320 Family remains the world’s best-selling single-aisle aircraft, with more than 20,200 orders placed worldwide.
