Embraer and Azorra agree on up to 30 E-Freighter conversions

Embraer and aircraft lessor Azorra have signed an agreement covering up to 30 E-Freighter aircraft, including 20 firm orders and 10 purchase rights for passenger-to-freighter conversions. The deal was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, following the entry into service of the Embraer E190F freighter in March 2026.

The agreement marks Azorra’s entry into the freighter leasing market and strengthens its long-standing partnership with Embraer. The lessor said the E-Freighter offers an efficient alternative for express cargo operators, combining the proven reliability of the E-Jet platform with lower operating costs and the ability to serve decentralised, high-frequency markets.

Based on the E190 platform, the E-Freighter provides more than 100 cubic metres of cargo volume and a payload capacity of up to 13.5 tonnes. Embraer says the aircraft is designed to fill the gap between turboprop freighters and larger narrowbody cargo aircraft, offering around 30% lower operating costs than traditional narrowbody freighters while providing greater range and volume flexibility than large cargo turboprops.

The aircraft is also positioned as a replacement for older freighter models, with Stage 4 noise compliance, improved efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Target markets include Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East and Africa, where demand for regional express cargo capacity is growing.

The announcement follows Azorra’s recent order for 15 additional Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for another 15. That agreement brought Azorra’s total firm E2 commitments to 54 aircraft and pushed the E2 programme beyond 500 firm orders worldwide.
