On August 7, 2025, Airlink and U.S.-based lessor Azorra finalised a lease agreement for 10 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, marking a major fleet expansion for the South African regional airline. The first delivery is expected by December 2025, with all aircraft arriving by 2027.
The new 136-seat E195-E2s will boost Airlink’s capacity on high-density routes and enable expansion across sub-Saharan Africa. Their commonality with Airlink’s existing Embraer fleet will ensure a smooth entry into service and deliver operational efficiencies in training, maintenance, and equipment.
Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht called the agreement a bold step toward future growth. Azorra and Embraer executives praised the partnership, emphasising the E2’s fuel efficiency, performance, and suitability for Africa’s growing regional air travel market.
The lease solidifies Airlink’s role as Southern Africa’s leading regional carrier and reinforces its long-standing relationship with Embraer.
