Irish aircraft lessor Avolon has placed a major order for 90 Airbus aircraft, consisting of 15 A330neo widebodies and 75 A321neo single-aisle jets, as part of its strategy to support future fleet expansion and renewal among airline customers worldwide.
This new agreement brings Avolon’s total Airbus commitments to 79 A330neos and 264 A321neos, reinforcing its position as one of the largest global lessors of Airbus aircraft.
“This order demonstrates our strong confidence in the long-term demand for new aircraft,” said Andy Cronin, CEO of Avolon. “Both the A321neo and A330neo are in high demand, and we expect this to continue given the long-term growth trajectory for the aviation sector. We are delighted to be expanding and extending our long-term partnership with Airbus.”
Airbus EVP of Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, welcomed the deal, calling lessors like Avolon “excellent barometers of the aircraft market.” He added, “This endorsement illustrates the strong attractiveness of these two aircraft – the most efficient in their categories – covering everything from short domestic hops to long-haul international routes.”
