Avation has placed an order for five additional ATR 72-600 aircraft, strengthening its long-standing partnership with ATR and bringing its total firm orders with the manufacturer to 54.
The Singapore-based lessor exercised existing purchase rights under a framework agreement signed in 2011, with deliveries of the new aircraft scheduled for 2028 and 2029.
The latest order continues a 15-year collaboration that has seen Avation build a sizeable turboprop portfolio. The company currently has 27 ATR aircraft placed with operators worldwide and has added three new airline customers in the past six months alone.
The ATR 72-600, a key product in the regional aviation segment, is valued for its fuel efficiency and low operating costs, making it particularly suited for short-haul and regional routes, as well as fleet replacement programmes.
ATR said the deal highlights the important role of lessors in expanding the global market for regional aircraft, as leasing often provides airlines with an entry point before committing to direct purchases.
Bottom line: The order underlines sustained confidence in turboprop aircraft demand, with Avation positioning itself to meet expected growth in regional aviation over the coming decade.
