French air traffic controllers to strike Thursday, widespread disruption expected

Share

French air traffic controllers will strike on Thursday, prompting the Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) to ask airlines to cancel 25% of flights to and from major Paris airports.

The protest, driven by concerns over chronic understaffing—particularly in southern France—will heavily impact airports like Nice, Bastia, and Calvi, where flight schedules will be cut by 50%.

Additional cancellations (30%) are planned for Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Ajaccio, and Figari. Despite these measures, the DGAC warns of significant delays and disruptions nationwide.

The strike, led by the UNSA-ICNA union, will continue into Friday following failed mediation talks.
