A change of company name for Belgocontrol. According to French-language daily newspaper La Dernière Heure (DH), the Belgian air navigation and traffic service provider for the civil airspace for which the Belgian State is responsible, has decided to do so.
Belgocontrol – celebrating its 20th anniversary – will soon operate under the new name: SKEYES (the composition of sky and eyes ==> the EYES of the SKY)
Aviation24.be discovered that on 16 October 2017, domain name skeyes.be was registered by Belgocontrol.
A few members of the Belgian Parliament were surprised by the news, by law autonomous public companies cannot change names. But in 2015, the largest of Belgium’s three mobile telecommunications companies Belgacom changed its brand name to Proximus.
Contacted by DH, spokesman Belgocontrol Alain Kniebs refused to comment on the information. He indeed confirmed the name change, but wanted to reserve the scoop for his different departments.
