F-35 Lightning II scale model stolen at the International Sanicole Airshow

After the International Sanicole Airshow, held in Hechtel-Eksel, Belgium last weekend a F-35 Lightning II (Joint Strike Fighter) scale model was stolen from a exhibition tent.

According to the police the scale model is worth 20,000 € and was stolen together with an advertising panel. Nobody noticed the robbery as next to the exhibition tent a party was on-going. “The replica has a scale of 1/10 and measures around 1,50 meters, possibly some drunk airshow-goers took the model as a souvenir.”

International Sanicole Airshow spokesman Joeri Mombers confirmed the robbery to Het Nieuwsblad: “It’s not known yet how the model got stolen, it’s a shame that things like this happen after such a great weekend.”

Bart Noëth: Since 1996, I have been working in the Belgian airline industry, from a weekend job as a cabin aircraft cleaner to a flight attendant. After the demise of Sabena - in 2001, I created a website called www.luchtzak.be, originally a meeting place for plane spotters and aviation freaks. Since 2017, the website changed into a professional news site. Next to aviation, I love to travel, wine and dine and enjoy my time off(-line) with my girlfriend, friends and family. My favourite football squad is KV Mechelen, I am an Ironman 70.3 finisher and my ambition is to complete a full Ironman.
