Thai SmartLynx, a new ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) specialist, has received its first Airbus A320-200 at Don Mueang International Airport, marking a key step toward securing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand.
The airline will provide flexible fleet capacity solutions to help Thai and regional carriers meet seasonal demand, cover grounded aircraft, and trial new routes without long-term commitments. Its model aligns with Thailand’s tourism strategy, which seeks to spread visitor flows beyond major cities, and supports a sector that generates USD 22.2 billion for the economy and 3.2 million jobs.
The A320, known for its efficiency and reliability, will anchor Thai SmartLynx’s fleet, which is set to expand with additional aircraft. The airline also opened its new operations office at Don Mueang, strengthening its local base and customer responsiveness.
Chairman Martynas Grigas described the delivery as both a milestone and a commitment to supporting Thailand’s aviation and tourism industry. Once certified, Thai SmartLynx aims to play a vital role in boosting regional connectivity through cost-effective ACMI solutions.
