Avia Solutions Group to streamline European operations under three core brands

Share

Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) provider, announced plans to consolidate its European Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) into three core brands as part of a broader strategy to enhance efficiency and expand into counter-cyclical markets in the Asia Pacific and Latin America.

As part of the restructuring, the Group has sold SmartLynx Latvia to its current management and a Dutch fund, and will merge and rebrand SmartLynx Estonia and SmartLynx Malta. The company will also continue exploring operational efficiencies across its European network.

Avia Solutions Group currently holds European AOCs in the UK, Turkey, Malta, Slovakia, Estonia, and Lithuania, and estimates that 27–30 aircraft per AOC represents the optimal scale.

CEO Jonas Janukenas highlighted that consolidation will improve year-round utilisation of the fleet:

“By consolidating our European AOCs and expanding into counter-cyclical markets in Asia Pacific and Latin America, we aim to optimise year-round operations.”

The Group plans to establish new AOCs in Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand by the end of 2025, providing access to key summer and winter markets.

Avia Solutions Group currently operates 11 AOCs and a global fleet of 187 aircraft, with the flexibility to offer ACMI services across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and international routes to the United States.
