Three people were killed in a crash of a small Piper PA-28 aircraft in the Diavolezza are near Pontresina: the pilot and two 14-year-old boys of a youth camp of the Swiss Aero Club. A 17-year-old teenager was seriously injured.
At 9:30 am the Piper PA-28 aircraft crashed near the Diavolezza railway station. The rescue forces encountered a completely destroyed aircraft, and the dead and injured passengers.
Since 30 July, 192 young people have been introduced into flying at the annual youth camp of the Swiss Aero Club. The cause of the accident is still unclear and is being investigated.
