This has been like this for YEARS! When I was still based at CRL at had some heated debates with security frequently when they were making me take my belt and my shoes off while these (often slightly drunk) "government officials" would go through and all bells and whisles going off. Reaction of security: "bonjour mon ami!" Kiss on the cheek and off they went. When I challenged it with airport management their words where: keep it quite, if we force them to go through security properly, they will shut down the whole airport through the Union connections
Typical behaviour of people who consider themselves above the law! Unacceptable!

And in private discussion, I am sure some of them will say
* ah, why must they always be so difficult? they know us, don't they? They should, anyway!
* "ces Flamands sont imbus de l'esprit Germanique" - sorry I cannot translate that

Good points. However, "ces Flamands" are not the only ones to be fed up with their arrogance.

So, you are sure they will say this? You can read people's mind from your Flemish good bestuur land?

Regarding the statement" "ces Flamands sont imbus de l'esprit Germanique", if you cannot translate it on your side...I don't understand it on mine!

"ces flamands sont imbus de leur personne" would mean something in French but wouldn't be appropriate in this case...
In short, don't put words in people's mouth + If you don't know how to express something in French, just stick to vlooms or English.

According to the interview of Hervé Pierret of Air Corsica to Air Info, he said this about Charleroi :
For Charleroi, have we add offer. We had 85% of fill in March, when Air Corsica arrived at Charleroi. We're at 92% in September.

(...)
With those results, we're in project to do flights during all the year (actually only during summer season). In 2018, Charleroi will have flights from end of March to November and in March 2019,will come the flights during all the year.

Charleroi Brussels South is suffering from the current Ryanair crisis (yesterday the airline announced a further cancellation of 18,000 flights), Brussels South Charleroi airport CEO Jean-Jacques Cloquet admitted to Belgian RTBF: “For 2017 we will lose 50,000 to 60,000 passengers, the airport is going through a crisis that will last.“

That's what you get when you rely on only one big playger on your airport.
Passengers are looking for alternatives now and discovering other nice airlines. More pax for SN and ironically more pax are discovering Norwegian now. More pilots from Ryanair to Norwegian and pax. This will be painful for Ryanair.

Always diversify on your airport so that you have a more or less healthy situation.

Other airports had the same. Take a lesson from it

Charleroi has tried to diversify as soon as Ryanair has become the dominant player. But it is not always easy to attract new airlines, especially in a rather small country like Belgium. The efforts of Charleroi have met some success, but since Ryanair kept growing, the arrival of new airlines have been compensated with the growth of Ryanair.

In its 2018 budget presented yesterday, the Government of Wallonia has set mid-2018 as the date to start the works to lengthen the runway of Charleroi Airport.
