I'm sure many management teams around Europe would strongly disagree with that statement. British Airways for example has "brand protection" written in their genes.

I recall vividly how you, a few years ago, were ferociously slaying Ryanair for trying to expand their customer base to more business pax and you said that their brand would never allow that, because of it's associations with it. At the same time you were claiming that SN would always have a place in BRU because of the sentimental value of the brand for Belgian customers.

Everyone knows a brand is NOT just a name. It's an identity that sets the values the company upholds and sets expectations towards your customers. I think we can all agree that SN brand expectations are much more premium than eurowings brand expectations

You really can't compare a simple 'consumer good' brand name like Brussels Airlines with 'iconic' brand names ones like an Air France, British Airways or indeed Lufthansa: the first type of name is used for as long as it's commercially convenient for a company to sell its product under, the second one is genetically linked to the company selling the product itself indeed and will never be changed, except in case of demise of the company of course (like Sabena or Swissair): Radio 1 will always be Radio One, regardless how they spell it, but Radio Donna may change to MNM (and in 10 years to something else again) as their audience rolls over every 15 years...

Yes indeed, and do I say something different today? Or are you simply assuming I am?

What I am saying is that nor the name Brussels Airlines, nor their blue tail with the 14 (?) reds dots, is something that absolutely must be kept unchanged forever, but I am not saying they should simply replace it by eurowings and their blue purple swirls either like you seem to immediately conclude from that.

It's perfectly possibly to design something in between, which looks closely, but differently nevertheless, so as to allow them to be recognized as 'eurowings' in markets where they are weak, whereas they will still be 'the Belgian airline formerly known under their long name of Brussels Airlines' in their traditional home markets.

I refrained from suggesting anything so far because I wanted to focus on the concept rather than discuss any specific examples, but let's just imagine they'd rename to say 'belgianwings' and take on the same corporate look and livery as eurowings has, but replace their blue and purple with for instance black and red... just an illustration to show you the end solution need not be so binary as everything seems to be in your point of view, at all.

Excuseme? I've never heard nobody to call Radio 1 as "Radio one". It's called "Radio Een".

So is MIA (april/may).
And tickets are way more expensive than departing from CGN last year...

Eurowings is in talks with Niki Lauda and others to lease planes and crew to reach a goal of growing its fleet to 210 planes (including those of Brussels Airlines).

Eurowings plans to grow by over 30 aeroplanes, 70,000 flights, and 8 million passengers in 2018.

Eurowings to start Munich – Havana service on 30 October 2018, onboard A330-200 operated by SunExpress Germany.

Eurowings to start new A319 service from Bilbao to Hamburg on 02 June 2018.

Simply Aviation today shared the information below about Eurowing from ITB Berlin:
Eurowings' A340s and its A333 will feature a 3-class configuration with Business (BizClass), Premium Economy (Best) and Economy (Basic).
They'll operate a single A330-300 for 10 months. It'll come from Cathay Pacific and will fly for Eurowings with Cathay's cabin, including the 1-2-1 Business Class!
This A330-300 will then go to Brussels Airlines to replace an older A330 there.
The wet-leased 737s from TUI will remain in their fleet for at least 5 years, will be repainted into Eurowings colours and eventually also receive more-legroom-seats in the front of the plane (like Eurowings' A320s).
Eurowings wants to go in a more hip direction (kind of like Joon) and is looking into brand-deals with companies like Starbucks.

Eurowings removed reservation for its first route not originating to/from Germany, Austria and Spain, previously scheduled in summer 2018. The route in question was from Cagliari to Antalya starting 28 April 2018, with an A320 from Germanwings.

Many airlines who grow this fast end up in the toilet... not to mention the quality control is totally in the toilet... They are waking up very late into the low cost market and want to dominate it overnight... this is going to be fun... oops I have to wrap this up, have to go to the toilet ;)

Despite its new links with Ryanair, Laudamotion will provide up to eight wet-leased aircraft to Eurowings until end May 2018. The two companies to evaluate possible cooperation beyond that date in the coming weeks.
