Looks more like an error or a gap on Flightradar24:

"Fuel leak" was also mentioned at VRT Radio news this morning - along with their usual nonsense of "noodlanding" (their translation of "emergency landing").

This time it was a real emergency landing with rescue workers on the runway and several AC in holding pattern.

No nonsense, both are correct.

It's a bit of a difficulty that our Dutch vocabulary is so limited. English has a general term "emergency landing" with subclasses "forced landing" and "precautionary landing". For once (and only for this once!) I agree with nl.wikipedia.org: "noodlanding" should only be used for a forced landing - which this was obviously not. In this case, the generalist "emergency landing" has been (incorrectly, IMHO) translated by "noodlanding".

The presence of emergency vehicles does not mean anything: they are often activated as soon as there is the slightest indication of risk - sometimes exaggerated, perhaps, but correct on the long term: if uncertain, err on the safe side.

And of course all this is only a side note. The essential thing is that none were injured. One day we may read an investigation report, and know what went wrong for a beginning - if anyone still remembers this incident more than a year later.

I would defo make a whatever landing after a fuel leak!

It came back to Brussels, it didn't perform its normal flight. If my car leaks fuel I would also make an emergency stop.

This is what my Dikke van Dale says on page 631 (printed edition indeed):
Noodlanding: "gedwongen landing, op een andere plaats dan die van bestemming".
Translation: Emergency landing: forced landing at a different place then destination.

Methinks it's quite obvious that an immediate return with a fuel leak call, with emergency services on standby and even entering the runway, is an emergency landing.

Call probably was PAN or mayday (on a scale: return-but-not-declaring-emergency, PAN, mayday). I listen to AMS ATC every now and then, and those three are the grades I hear there for problems.

Once more: it was an emergency landing, since emergency was declared.

Well, I never questioned it was an emergency landing. I questioned the translation of "emergency landing" to "noodlanding". Must admit that was not very clear from my initial posting.

Since it was pretty much a direct return to a suitable airfield within a decent range, I'd say forced landing (noodlanding) is a pretty correct description here. They didn't enter the hold, but realised quite soon they wanted to be on the ground ASAP.
By the way, I think I'm probably the last person you'll ever see using the moniker "emergency landing" when the situation doesn't call for it. A precautionary landing is not an emergency landing.

Today's SN-1194 Grenoble-Brussels (Brussels Airlines OO-SNH A-320) was a "plaster flight" for Europ Assistance.
