B737 MAX grounded due to engine problems

Post by JamesD »

All new Boeing 737MAX aircraft grounded due to problems with the new Leap-1B engine. This envolves the test aircrafts and the newly build aircrafts who were due for delivery. First delivery was scheduled for next week. Hopefully this gets resolved fast so the EIS of these planes is not jeopardised.

The A320neo has a LEAP-1A engine, unlike the 737 MAX which has a LEAP-1B

Boeing B737 MAX engines must be re-approved by US regulators before it can take flight and begin deliveries, potentially pushing back the resumption of MAX flights and scheduled first deliveries to airlines in May 2017.

Airbus will continue normal flight operations on aircraft powered by new-generation LEAP engines produced by CFM. The European planemaker uses a different version of the engine from those supplied to its US-based rival.
