I agree with the Aussies: inconceivable and unacceptable. But the search mission had to be conducted without the relevant pointers, like data from military radar. Both Malaysia and China didn't want the world to know what their military & intelligence forces were able to do, hence they refused to fully collaborate.

It truly is unacceptable.
Hopefully someone will start looking for it once again.
Just don’t let it last 70years like the Titanic.
But who knows; technology can be much better and cheaper in the future to undertake such an immense undertaking

Search for missing Malaysian Airlines flight 370 to restart

In a bid to restart the search for the mysteriously missing Malaysian Airlines flight 370, U.S. marine exploration company Ocean Infinity said on Friday that it has made "good progress" on a deal to restart the search.

While Australia's transport minister said earlier this week that the company had entered into a "no find no fee" arrangement with the Malaysian government, the company has said that the contract hasn't been finalized.

Mark Antelme of the company's public relations firm Celicourt Communications has said, "Ocean Infinity are not yet able to confirm the final award of a contract to help in the search for MH370, but good progress has been made. We remain optimistic that we will be able to try and help provide some answers to those who have been affected by this tragedy.”

Further, the Malaysian government also said that the deal had not yet been finalized.

In a statement, the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation has said, "At this juncture, the Malaysian Government has yet to arrive into an agreement with Ocean Infinity for the search of MH370.”

Darren Chester, Australia's Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, said in an earlier statement that the Malaysian government had "accepted an offer from Ocean Infinity to search for the missing plane."

The statement said, "Malaysia's decision to proceed with the search shows the commitment to find MH370.

In August this year, Ocean Infinity first tabled the offer but declined to reveal the exact terms of the proposal. It had however stated that it was willing to "take on the economic risk of a renewed search."

According to reports, the original search covered 120,000 square kilometres and cost roughly $150 million.

Earlier this month, investigators for the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said in its final report that it was “almost inconceivable” that authorities were no closure to knowing its ultimate fate.

Any idea what the original source is?
Nor that it seems credible: distance, satelite pings, ...

As I wrote already elsewhere (comment to the original article on the main page), I cannot believe that an engineer working alone on his computer could have found what expensive research by hundreds of people with a lot of heavy modern equipment has not found. I have many doubts...

Apparently he says it's 16km south of Round Island. That would place it just off the coast of NE Mauritius, which is quite densely populated.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 crash was deliberate, aviation experts suggest

"60 Minutes Australia" brought together an international group of aviation experts who say that the disappearance of MH370 was a criminal act by veteran pilot Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah.

Boeing 777 pilot and instructor Simon Hardy reconstructed the flight plan based on military radar, and says Captain Shah flew along the border of Malaysia and Thailand, crossing in and out of each country's airspace to avoid detection.

Two experts from the "60 Minutes Australia" investigation also disagreed with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau's scenario of the "death dive" with no one in control.

"I think someone was controlling the aircraft until the end," said Hardy.

Investigators released a probe report on Monday 30 July 2018 into the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner MH370 and said they were unable to determine the cause of one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries.

The team is unable to determine the real cause for the disappearance of MH370...,” Kok Soo Chon, head of the MH370 safety investigation team, told reporters.

The answer can only be conclusive if the wreckage is found,” he said when asked if they would ever find out what happened on the plane.

This is how The Aviation Herald ends it report on this final report:

"...The investigation analysed:

From the foregoing discussion it can be generally deduced that there is no evidence to suggest that a malfunction had caused the aircraft to divert from its filed flight plan route. The aircraft’s maintenance history and events prior to the last flight do not show any issues that could have contributed and resulted in the deviation and subsequent changes in the flight path. Although it cannot be conclusively ruled out that an aircraft or system malfunction was a cause, based on the limited evidence available, it is more likely that the loss of communication (VHF and HF communications, ACARS, SATCOM and Transponder) prior to the diversion is due to the systems being manually turned off or power interrupted to them or additionally in the case of VHF and HF, not used, whether with intent or otherwise.

Similarly, the recorded changes in the aircraft flight path following waypoint IGARI, heading back across peninsular Malaysia, turning south of Penang to the north-west and a subsequent turn towards the Southern Indian Ocean are difficult to attribute to any specific aircraft system failures. It is more likely that such manoeuvres are due to the systems being manipulated.

The analysis of the relevant aircraft systems taking into account the route followed by the aircraft and the height at which it flew, constrained by its performance and range capability, does not suggest a mechanical problem with the aircraft...."

A new (zillionth?) theory: Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared after Lithium Ion batteries exploded on the fateful Malaysia Airlines flight, causing it to crash, according to a retired United Airlines pilot.

The Argentinian submarine that went missing one year ago, has been located a few days ago by Ocean Infinity - the same company that has searched for MH370 till June 2018.
