Hi,

Speaking about public money....

13000 employees x 1100 euro a month unemployment = 476.666 euro loss a day

Loss AZ 500.000 euro a day, people has more to spend and so helps 13000 people the economy living !
Also there is a company connecting italia with the world..
It keeps with its losses 13000 people out of misery...

Knowing about calling me a communist bastard and completly nonsense in most of the people eyes... but this sums shows that the italian government do have reasonable reasons do NOT let AZ go bankrupt and send all those money away to foreign countries :p

Euh ? Capitalism but at which cost ? Lol

You communist bastard! It's not like people in Italia or to Italia will stop flying after the demise of AZ. Other airlines will expand and hire currently unemployed people. Some competent staff of AZ will find work at other companies that are making a profit and thereby will be contributing to the Italian economy instead of living on the cost of the Italian taxpayer. Your theorie has been tried in Venezuela. Guess what? It didn't work!

But none of these will be able to invest unless EY sells its stake due to EU foreign ownership rules. Moreover, I wouldn't be surprised if EY would have collateralised some of its loans.

Press release Alitalia:

Rome, 24 May 2017 – In view of multiple strikes called for Sunday 28 May, Alitalia has taken special measures to mitigate customer inconvenience and rebook the highest number of passengers affected by cancellations onto the first available flights. The Company was forced to cancel several domestic and international flights scheduled for next Sunday. So far, 80 per cent of passengers have already been booked onto alternative flights. The strikes were called by unions representing air traffic controllers for the period 1 pm to 5 pm on 28 May and also by various trade unions representing Alitalia staff (CUB Trasporti, USB, Confael and Assovolo) from 10 am to 6 pm. To minimize inconvenience, Alitalia invites all customers already holding tickets for travels on 28 May to call the airline in Italy on toll-free number 800.65.00.55, from overseas at +39 06 65 649, or contact the travel agency where the ticket was bought. Additional staff will be on hand in the airports of Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to assist customers, and additional call centre staff will be on duty. Bigger aircraft will operate on several domestic and international routes in order to carry as more passengers as possible. Alitalia apologizes for the inevitable inconvenience caused by this industrial action.

Ryanair is among the 32 to express interest in Alitalia, which could include a connecting flight partnership. But Ryanair will not buy the airline!

Alitalia could still be sold as a whole and not broken up into pieces, said Luigi Gubitosi, one of the airline’s commissioners.

Meanwhile, Alitalia filed for bankruptcy in the US, as it was faced with an imminent threat of losing access to New York’s JFK airport over unpaid bills.

Acceleration in the process? Non-binding bids for the airline by the 15 remaining interested parties are due by July 21.

Ryanair is among the 15 remaining bidders. Its CEO Michael O’Leary says his carrier would be interested in buying Alitalia if its commissioners make “major changes and restructuring”, adding he would only buy it for a majority stake.
