-) the production of 1 plane upgraded to A319
-) the production of 4 A319 upgrraded to A320
This does not necessarily means that 3 A319 will be leaving the fleet:
1) TC will be transferring more flights than planes;
2) you need to allow for the maintenance checks, mostly performed during the winter season I think.

Current situation:
22 A319 and 10 A320. Someone indicated here that 1 A319 (was it SSD?) is going to be replaced ( I assume by a A320) but there might be more down the road.

SSD will be the one replacing part of the wet lease production, it's supposed to stay/go through redelivery to SN.
I thought there are 3 effectively leaving, so that makes 19 A319 and 16 A320.
+10 A330
+6 SSJ's
So that's 51 in total, but with a much higher average seat count vs this year and assuming there is no further addition.

The return of SSD to the lessor is postponed, it is going to stay a bit longer. Normally no A319 will leave in the WI17. It is then just one in SU18 and then two in WI18.
Lots of A320 will join in the next 12 months. I think 3 before the end of this year (2 ex-Thomas Cook and 1 ex-AZ), and then another 3 or 4 before July 2018.

The single aisle Airbus fleet in July 2018 will probably look like this: 21 A319, 18 or 19 A320. No news on A321 unfortunately.

This is roughly what is currently in the pipeline, but as these things change very often, don't quote me on this in 4 months time :P

In case anyone is interested, the MSN's for the 7 A330's joining as from next year are 915, 895, 959, 978, 983, 1132, 679 (normally in that order).

7 A330 leaving the fleet?
If so, it already is an (small) upgrade, all the new ones are A333 :)

In general: nice fleet renewal ;)

[Sorry if this is the wrong topic]

In the inflight magazine of August, B-Inspired, they have a double page where they call people to provide ideas for the fifth Belgian Icon livery.

That's and old one compared to the others, it will be at least 14 years old when it arrives since it's the last one to join while the youngest will only be half it's age.

Why not a livery with famous Belgian people. I guess there are enough famous Belgians to fill one A320 :)

A few possibilities for sites: the Atomium, Brussels Grand' Place, Manneken Pis, a view of Bruges' canals, Antwerp's Brabo, Namur's Citadel to stick to some of the best known.
Famous people portraits might be a bit difficult to recognize, even for Belgians ;) : Albert 1, Ernest Solvay, Jacques De Duve, Maurice Maeterlinck, Jacques Brel, Leo Baekeland,..........

Maybe stupid but low cost Eurowings is going to fly with A 350 an Brussels Airlines with older A330?!?!?!
I now we discussed this already but now with the news that Eurowings of the same group will fly with brand new A350 it takes another dimensions....
Hasta la victoria siempre.

It is not decided yet. It might be, it might be not, that is the meaning of "CEO LH 'considers' A350 for EW".

And for sure, when it would be decided it is not for tomorrow, rather in the (mid-) long term. And since SN is part of EW it is not excluded that SN receives A350 the as well.

We should less complain, support SN by flying them and hopefully we'll see those mordern birds in the future ...

Toots Thielemans was decently known around the world.

But there's some many to chose from. Belgium has quite the history and Belgians have invented quite some things also.

Our modern maps all use the Mercator projection, something that Gerardus Mercator invented in the second half of the 1500's.

Or what about the Saxophone, a beautiful instrument from Adolphe Sax.

Or maybe something a bit more crazy: medication. A Belgian invented the contraceptive pill, so was Imodium and even fentanyl is a Belgian invention.

Or what maybe not to much people known is that the internal combustion engine is actually a Belgian invention done by Etienne Lenoir in 1859

Or the many famous painters... Rubens, Van Eyck, Ensor, Permeke, Brueghel, Van Dyck, etc...

Even the ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) was invented by a Belgian (Karel Bossart). But maybe that not the right thing to put on an airplane

An other one : André Vésale !
André Vésale, born in Brussels on 31 December 1514 and died in Zakynthos on 15 October 1564, is a Brabant anatomist and physician, considered by many historians of science to be the greatest anatomist of the Renaissance, even the greatest in history of medicine.

In fact they ARE looking for a 5th Belgian Icon livery! Or a 6th as Malinwa was the 5th Belgian Icon livery ;-) https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/lufthan ... n-malinwa/
