Re: Day trips

I agree. Book directly from the airline. Two separate tickets. Otherwise, a website like skyscanner.com or kayak.com can be useful for finding days when tickets are cheaper.

I hear that the leases would already have been signed if the pilot unions had signed the agreement with management instead of waiting for... For what?

Re: Brussels 21/07/2018 - Belgian National Day

The coverage of the parade by VRT was catastrophic: they managed to completely miss the helicopters! (And, out of topic, for the ground parade: going constantly back and forth between the groups caused utter confusion).

You want to put pressure on Ryanair? Deflate O'Leary's car. Put glue in his door lock. Phone 3 times per minute to Kenny Jacobs. Refuse to sell scratch lottery cards. Refuse to sell drinks onboard. Refuse to charge for overweight luggage. Load fuel for a possible diversion to Cancun. Whatever. But ...

The Hi Fly A380 will go to its Maltese subsidiary under registration 9H-MIP. Hi Fly says that less than 24 hours after it presented its A380 at Farnborough, it has agreed to the first wet lease contract with an undisclosed "well established European carrier". The aircraft will be flying long-haul s...

Re: The CityJet Sukhoi SSJ100-95 saga is hurting Brussels Airlines

It is widely expected that SN will cancel the SSJ contract with CityJet before it expires in March 2019 with three possibilities:
  • Continue with another CityJet aircraft, e.g. the CRJ900
  • Switch to another subcontractor, e.g. Flybe or bmi regional
  • Fly its own aircraft, e.g. A319

Re: Day trips

I did quite a number of day trips, trying indeed to spend a maximum of time at destination. Therefore I select flights, often on different airlines and sometimes with a connection in a foreign airport. I also try to find cheap flights of course. On legacy airlines a return trip on the same day is of...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2018

And what about the Embraers? Will they be replaced in 2020? The end of the TUI operation at ANR? Surely they will keep them. Also my impression. There might be a Group policy to rationalise the fleet around the 737MAX and the 787, but with some regional adaptations, e.g. to be able to fly to ANR.

The Brussels Airlines inflight magazine also mentions 5 SSJs.

Under the fleet revamp, all eight B737-700s leave the fleet in the next year, while the B757s and B767s will be phased out in ...

It seems TUI is rather generous nowadays with indemnities and compensations…Maybe PR strategy? According to consumer magazine Test-Aankoop (Dutch) TUI pays €60/day/pax for delayed luggage due to the luggage belt failures at BRU Airport this month which was actually force majeure. SN and other airli...
