Princess Juliana International Airport will reopen for commercial flights on Tuesday 10 October 2017.

The airport announced the news via its social media account on Twitter.

Princess Juliana International Airport is one of the main gateways to the island of Sint-Maarten and the main international airport on the island. It is world famous for the spectacular landings over Maho Beach.

The airport was severely damaged on 5 September 2017 as the island of Sint-Maarten was hit by Hurricane Irma (see Princess Juliana International Airport SXM severely hit by Hurricane Irma). The airport had to be completely closed but managed to reopen few days later for military flights and relief flights (see Royal Jordanian evacuates Jordanian citizens from Sint-Maarten).
