ArkeFly, after consultation with the government and Eindhoven Airport, has decided to move the scheduled flights to the Antilles from Eindhoven Airport to Schiphol. The airline is further expanding its flights to the Caribbean from Schiphol. Arkefly would have been the first airline to carry intercontinental flights from Eindhoven Airport to the Caribbean. However, the 100% security checks that are necessary for flights to and from Curaçao and Aruba cannot be carried out at Eindhoven Airport. The government therefore is preparing a law which ensures that such flights may soon only take place where there are adequate facilities. At present, this is only Schiphol Airport. From November 22 Arkefly offers two new destinations from Eindhoven Airport: Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The airline will also start from summer 2016 with flights to Crete and Kos from Eindhoven Airport.

Hans van de Velde, Managing Director Arkefly: “We find it very unfortunate that we can not start our Caribbean operation from Eindhoven, especially since the sales so far were excellent. However, it is of course important that there are no illicit arrangements in our country. We have been convinced that it is better in that context that our Antilles Flights are carried exclusively out at Schiphol. The government will make sure that no other companies will be allowed on the route from Eindhoven to the Antilles . In anticipation of the new legislation, we therefore have to decide not to commence our proposed route from Eindhoven Airport, which we regret. Of course we find any inconvenience this decision entails very annoying for our customers, especially for travellers who already have made a booking with departure from Eindhoven Airport. We will contact them as soon as possible. “

Expansion of Antilles flights from Schiphol
Arkefly is expanding its daily flights from Schiphol to the Antilles with two flights per week. From November 1 there will be a second daily flight on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This brings the total number of Arkefly flights to the Antilles to nine per week.

New: Canary islands and Greek islands from Eindhoven
Arkefly not only extend its flights out of Schiphol but also from Eindhoven Airport. From November 22 Arkefly will be the first airline that flies twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, directly from Eindhoven Airport to Fuerteventura. This flight is combined with the destination of Lanzarote. Additionally Arkefly flies from April 28, 2016 twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday, to the two most popular Greek islands of Crete and Kos. These flights are combined with Rotterdam The Hague Airport. In this way Arkefly offers its passengers much flexibility in departure dates and trip durations.
