From 2018 holiday airline TUI fly Belgium will start flying with a brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, aviation enthusiast and journalist Jason Rabinowitz discovered and shared on Twitter.

A TUI fly Belgium spokesman confirmed the news to the luchtzak.be-webteam. The airline currently operates 16 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation, 5 Boeing 737-700 Next Generation, 4 Embraer 190, 1 Boeing 767 and 1 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

It’s uncertain how many Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft TUI fly Belgium will operate. Last year at Farnborough the TUI group finalised an order of 10 Boeing 737 MAX and 1 Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Boeing says that the 737 MAX 8 delivers 8% lower operating costs than other main competitors. The new 737 MAX Advanced Technology winglet increases fuel efficiency by 1.8%. The aircraft has an improved environmental performance. The superior fuel efficiency of the 737 MAX reduces carbon emissions. The quieter 737 MAX has a 40% smaller noise footprint than today’s single-aisle airplanes.

TUI fly Belgium’s first scheduled passenger flight with the 737 MAX 8 will head towards Tenerife (TFS) on 15 January 2018. (subject to change).
