A Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-212ER registered 9V-SQK was being towed towards Terminal 3 at Singapore-Changi Airport when the tow truck caught fire. At the time of the accident the aircraft wasn’t carrying any passengers. Looking at the pictures the forward underside of the aircraft has been seriously damaged.
A technician who was present in the cockpit was evacuated by an emergency slide, airport emergency services came to the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries have been reported. The aircraft was originally scheduled to operate flight SQ890 to Hong Kong, but after an aircraft change the flight could leave with a delay of 13 minutes.
