Ryanair flight FR2947 from Brussels to Madrid operated by Boeing 737-800 EI-FTJ was briefly evacuated because one passenger (in a group of nine) made an inappropriate joke during boarding “about the bombs he was carrying”.

The aircraft was searched but nothing suspicious was found, the police arrested a 51-year old male passenger together with his eight companions. Shortly after the search, passengers were allowed to board, and the aircraft left Brussels Airport around 09:30 with a delay of 2h30.

Spokeswoman Carol Vercarre explained to HLN: “We assume that the passenger was under the influence of alcohol and wanted to make a funny joke. Despite the fact that we suspect that the passenger would never perform his threat, we can’t take this lightly.
