Companies have completed a CFM Branded Service Agreement (CBSA)
Lufthansa Technik and CFM International (CFM), a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines, announced that the two companies have completed a CFM Branded Service Agreement (CBSA), making Lufthansa Technik part of the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network for LEAP-1A engines.
The MRO support agreement enables Lufthansa Technik to offer high-quality, cost-efficient MRO services for LEAP-1A engines to customers worldwide as an independent MRO provider. This engine powers the new Airbus A320neo Family. The –CBSA includes extended licenses, other commercial agreements and strong technical cooperation. The focus thereof will be on optimizing the operating costs of the LEAP-1A engine and developing new MRO services. Under the terms of the agreement, Lufthansa Technik will also provide a range of MRO services tailored specifically to customers’ requirements and to the needs corresponding to the life-cycle of the engine. This will range from engine overhaul and parts repair to on-wing support and engineering.

Preparations for the introduction of the LEAP engine are already underway at Lufthansa Technik. The company has been licenced for LEAP (LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B) since 2017, now the cooperation with CBSA for LEAP-1A has been intensified and a corresponding agreement for LEAP-1B is in preparation. The first LEAP-1A engine shop visit is expected in Hamburg in early 2019.
