The airlines of the Lufthansa Group (Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS) are making progress in implementing their new sales and distribution strategy.

As communicated last week, Siemens is already using its individual Direct Connect solution. At the same time, a direct connection to the Lufthansa Group has been developed with Volkswagen.

Among other things these companies now benefit from the cost-savings as no Distribution Cost Charge (DCC) is being charged via this direct booking channel. The new non-GDS interface was developed in close relationship with a majority holding of the Amadeus IT Group.

“For us as a travel technology provider, the airlines of Lufthansa Group are very important customers and innovation partners when it comes to shaping our portfolio of airline IT solutions,” explains Guido Haarmann, Vice President Airline IT at Amadeus IT Group. “In this case, this collaboration is based on the connection of the Lufthansa inventory to cytric, the i:FAO group’s online booking solution.”

“The Lufthansa Group is on the right track with the differentiation of the distribution of its services, and plays an active role in creating a dynamic market environment. We want to build on the progress of the past months, and we are constantly increasing our innovation speed”, says Markus Binkert, Executive Vice President Distribution & Revenue Management Lufthansa Group Airlines and Chief Commercial Officer SWISS International Airlines.

The Lufthansa Group is currently cooperating with 17 international technology providers in order to be able to offer the broadest possible distribution solution portfolio.
