Jörg Meinke (50) heads the Lufthansa Group in Brussels from 01 January 2017. The fully qualified lawyer from Hamburg most recently held the position of Vice President Legal Affairs and General Counsel at Lufthansa Technik AG in Hamburg.

He has held various legal, regulatory and corporate governance positions in the Lufthansa Group over the last 20 years. Meinke succeeds Prof. Dr. Regula Dettling-Ott, who has retired after more than 11 years of activity within the framework of International Relations and Government Affairs in the Lufthansa Group, more than six years of which she spent in Brussels.

“Despite the competitive environment marked by cost pressures, Lufthansa has decided to continue to provide a competent contact person on-site in Brussels with Mr Meinke and the Brussels Representative Office”, says Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group. “The EU Commission has targeted the safeguarding of the competitiveness of European air transport with its aviation strategy. As a competitive enterprise and the largest aviation company in the EU, the Lufthansa Group would like to contribute to achieving this goal at this crucial time with the Brussels Representative Office and the existing expertise in the Lufthansa Group.

Thomas Kropp, Head of Group Policy and representative of the Lufthansa Group’s Board of Management adds: “With Mr Meinke we welcome an experienced and competent expert from the Lufthansa Group as well as someone well versed in aviation-related topics. We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Regula Dettling-Ott for her years of successful work for both Swiss and Lufthansa.”
