As from 15 February Brussels Airlines will operate six flights a week between Brussels and Nuremberg. The second largest city of Bavaria and an economic metropolis and important cultural-historical destination, was so far not connected to Brussels Airport.
Brussels Airlines continues to expand its network in Germany, adding Nuremberg as a destination as from 15 February, only a couple of months after successfully launching flights to Bremen. The capital of the region Franconia will be connected with Brussels Airport six times a week.
“The new route is very good news for the large number of businessmen, EU-officials and lobbyists who so far could not travel between Nuremberg and the European capital”, says Brussels Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Lars Redeligx. “As from 15 February we will offer them direct flights and smooth connections to other European destinations on all weekdays and on Sunday.”
“We are delighted with the new connection for the winter season. It allows us to respond to the large demand of the local industry in Nuremberg”, explains Dr. Michel Hupe, the director of Nuremberg airport. “By connecting the metropolis with the most important European hubs and business centers, Brussels Airlines fills a void”, he states.

Flights are scheduled in the late afternoon, making it possible to travel between Nuremberg and numerous other Brussels Airlines destinations in Spain, the UK and Scandinavia, via Brussels Airport

All flights are operated with Embraer 145 Regional Jets. Passengers can choose between four travel options (Bizz&Class, Flex&Fast, Light&Relax and Check&Go) and can collect miles with Miles & More, or with Brussels Airlines’ new loyalty program LOOP. At Brussels Airport frequent flyers can use the lounge The Loft.
Living museum and economic metropolis
Nuremberg is also known to be the living museum of the German history. Emperors and princesses, political leaders and their followers, inventors and scientists made the city well-known and contributed to its long and turbulent history. The splendid castle, the State Theatre, the Toy Museum and the world-famous Christmas market are just a few of the very inviting and frequently visited cultural ambassadors of the city.
But Nuremberg is not only a key cultural-historical player, it is also an important economic motor. Nuremberg / Franconia houses the fastest growing economy of Germany. Big names such as Siemens, MAN, and Bosch have branches in the city. GfK, a world known market research institute, is located there and Novartis Pharma does research and development in the area. Nuremberg is at the same time the capital of the rotogravure and well-known brands of writing material (Faber-Castell, Staedtler, Stabilo) are produced in the city. The headquarters of Adidas and Puma are situated at a stone’s throw away from the city and the famous Playmobil toys are manufactured in the region. Finally, Nuremberg also plays an international role as an important congress- and trading town.
8 destinations in Germany
With this new route Brussels Airlines now offers no less than 8 destinations in Germany. The Belgian airline connects the European capital with Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Nuremberg and Bremen while Lufthansa links Brussels Airport to Frankfurt and Munich, and Germanwings operates a direct flight to Stuttgart.
