[Update] Last month British Airways applied for a wet-lease of six Qatar Airways Airbus A320 aircraft. On 2 January 2018, the airline announced that it will no longer pursue the leasing but that it is looking at a range of other options.
Between 9 February and 9 April 2018, British Airways would wet-lease six Qatar Airways Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline applied for an approval on 4 December 2017.
British Airways would lease the six aircraft and crew to enable the airline “to support passenger operations due to late delivery of aircraft”. Back in July 2017 Qatar Airways already came to the rescue after the mixed fleet cabin crew strike. In November the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) leased 10 Airbus A320 aircraft from Qatar Airways after the Monarch Airlines collapse.
The registrations of the Qatar Airways aircraft are:
- A7-LAA
- A7-LAB
- A7-LAC
- A7-LAD
- A7-LAE
- A7-LAF
Strange that they apply in december to lease aircraft before that date!
You would not expect such mistakes in that kind of documents…
